Dr. h. c. Prof. Dr. Slávka Tomašcíková is a Professor in Cultural Studies at the Department of British and American Studies, Faculty of Arts, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice, Slovakia. Her current research focuses on food narratives in media discourses and she teaches courses in British studies and the interpretation of media texts. She has edited and co-edited eight books, authored two books and three textbooks, published more than 60 chapters and articles in books, academic journals and conference proceedings, and has been a leader of research teams in national and international projects. She is a member of the editorial boards of eight international journals, a regular speaker at international conferences in Europe and has been invited to give seven plenary lectures at congresses in Spain, Serbia, Romania, Poland, Hungary Russia and Albania. She is Head of the Department of British and American Studies. She speaks Slovak, English and Russian.
